While the standard Davis Vantage Pro2 is an accurate weather station, the Davis Vantage Pro2 with 24-hr Fan Aspiration and WeatherLink Console is certainly a step up from Davis stations of the past.

This version of  Davis Vantage Pro2 includes a solar- and battery-powered, motor-driven fan that draws a constant airflow through the sensor chamber. At night, when the effects of radiation are less, the fan runs on the battery. This provides more accurate temperature readings than passive shielding alone. 24-Hour Fan Aspirated Shielding

This Vantage Pro2 model includes “fan-aspirated” radiation shielding. While standard radiation shielding protects from solar radiation and other sources of radiated and reflected heat, in direct sunlight with little wind, some warming of the air inside the shielding still will occur if air isn’t properly circulating through.

Davis 24-hour shielding runs on solar power during the day, charging its internal battery, and switches over to stored battery power during nighttime hours. The most significant gains in accuracy over passive shielding are likely to be in the late afternoon and early evening.

What is the difference between the Vantage Vue and the Vantage Pro2?

While the Davis Vantage Vue and Vantage Pro2 are two totally different weather stations, they share many of the same sensors, just in different, or, in the case of the Vantage Vue, non-replaceable configurations. However, the Vantage Pro2 has a larger open area within the radiation shielding protecting your temperature and humidity sensors.

In theory, this should lessen errors on sunny and especially hot days, since there is more space for air to move. If you’re really concerned about accuracy, we strongly recommend either the fan-aspirated Pro2 or Pro2 Plus.

I cannot use wireless devices in my home. Is a wired version of the Davis Vantage Pro2 available?
