Effective February 1, the free shipping minimum will be lowered to $50 USD for orders shipped within the continental US, and select oversized items will no longer be eligible for free shipping due to increased costs.
This change brings us in line with our competitors, as well as ensuring shipping fees don’t cancel out savings from a sale, which has happened in the past.
The Climalytic TROPO is probably the best example of this: our new everyday price is $65 (a $4.99 savings from the 69.99 retail). If we were to run just a 10% sale (pretty average), the price drops to $58.50, which would not only trigger an $8.99 shipping fee, but make it MORE expensive on sale.
That doesn’t make sense. So we’re making some changes to our shipping policy.
Generally, any cart with a value over $50 after discounts will qualify for free shipping. However, in certain cases where shipping costs are unusually high, we’ll also be implementing a freight charge as necessary.
We want to stress that in a catalog of 150+ items, this will affect less than 5% of all items. And it will be obvious why, as these items are unusually shaped and thus more difficult to ship economically.
Items where the freight charge applies currently include:

The fee applies both when the order does and does not qualify for free shipping, and is added to the selling price.
We have compared our pricing with that of competitors, and even with the fee, on average, the final price paid will be about $5 less. We will similarly ensure elsewhere that any freight charges added do not cause the price to be more than what you’d pay on a competitor’s site.
We feel this is the best way to keep costs low for everyone, including offering competitive pricing on other Climalytic products where shipping costs are dramatically less.
Thanks to special shipping arrangements with our distributor, freight charges will not apply to weather station purchases, even though these shipments would normally be considered “oversized.”
This list may expand to other items that may otherwise qualify for free shipping on price alone. Again, we don’t expect the need to add such a charge to more than 5% of our catalog, as part of our research for product carriage also considered shipping costs.
Cirrusly Weather remains committed to ensuring its catalog pricing remains competitive and has already taken steps to absorb increased costs where possible. However, with both shipping and component costs increasing, we regretfully must pass on a portion of these costs where necessary.
