Making Images Clearer, More Useful, and More Relevant
When we started Cirrusly Weather back in May, we admittedly had more work to get things online than available time. So, like most retailers selling Davis and other brands that we do, we relied on the manufacturer’s standard imagery.
No doubt you’ve seen it on Amazon and elsewhere: just the product itself on a white background. While it works, it isn’t the best. One of the first things you lose is clarity of detail, especially if what is pictured is light in color itself. We’ve shown an example of this below.

As you can see, adding a background to these images brings out the details in the product itself. However, we also wanted to provide a visual reference to what the product does/is intended for without having to read the description.

For example, you may know the TALOS is a lightning detector, but by placing it with a relevant background — a boat — you know it’s a device intended for use on watercraft.
But we don’t just want to tell the product’s story by sight only — sometimes, it’s important to list some bullet points. We have to be honest, we didn’t quite understand the utility of Davis’s standalone AeroCone rain gauges until we did this with the AeroCone Rain Collector with Flat Base.

While not every image will get a makeover (some we don’t have much to work with!), all will follow this new design. And we’ll slowly be adding diagrams and installation graphics to product imagery as well.
We hope these changes make shopping with us even easier (and we do have to say, it looks nicer, too)!
