About the Talos Pool Lightning Detector with Mounting Base
Summertime means pool time, but it’s also prime time for afternoon thunderstorms. The Talos Pool Lightning Detector with Mounting Base alerts you to approaching lightning or storms. Lightning commonly strikes water, and a nearby lightning strike could kill or seriously injure a swimmer since water conducts electricity.
When lightning is first detected (up to 25 miles), the Talos Pool Lightning Detector with Mounting Base flashes all 8 LEDs for 5 minutes. To save battery life, after 5 minutes of lightning detection, the detector switches to blinking every other LED for the remaining time that lightning is detected.
- Green, one beep – 17-25 miles
- Blue, two beeps – 8-16 miles
- Red, three beeps – 7 miles or less
TALOS also has a version that is available for mounting on boats and watercraft.
