Important Notice Regarding Davis Pricing

Effective July 21, 2025, AEM and Davis Instruments instituted a new policy for Resellers, superseding previous reseller agreements. This new policy makes significant changes to how resellers are permitted to price and market Davis products, and requires us to make immediate changes.

(Note: if you were looking at a Davis station before this announcement, please reach out to us. This policy was instituted with immediate effect, we will work to find the best deal available for you.)

Over the past several years, some resellers have chosen to sell Davis stations and accessories well under MSRP and, in some cases, at a loss to monopolize the market. The result has been a race to the bottom, with retailers, and not Davis, dictating the price of their products.

We’ve experienced this firsthand: some Davis products we cannot sell because big retailers are selling them below what most distributors are. For what we can sell, we’ve been forced to sell at unsustainable margins. It’s also led to a handful of retailers dictating the price for everyone else, which was extremely unfair.

So what does this mean for Cirrusly Weather? Our initial reading indicates that our summer price guarantee, which was put in place to attempt to compete with those big retailers, is in violation of this new policy and is no longer valid. As a result, we’re going to have to make changes. This includes bundling as well.

However, it’s not all bad news: you will see additional Davis products appear as all resellers are now on a level playing field, which will make our Build Your Own Bundle feature even more customizable! We plan to add the full Davis catalog available to us by the end of August!

Our reading of the policy also indicates that sales of Davis products are still possible; however, you’ll see Davis stations on sale like anything else, for short periods. We’re still working to understand and comply with the policy, so stay tuned.

While yes, this is a “price increase,” it’s hard to call it one, as it was more a function of certain retailers choosing not to play by the rules (Davis’s ONLY price increase this decade was due to the switch from a console developed 20 years ago to something modern, and NOT inflation!).

We apologize, but we must take action to preserve our relationship with not only Davis, but also other distributors as well.
