FAQ
Who is the Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus with UV and Solar Sensors and WeatherLink Console best for?
We recommend the Davis Vantage Pro2 for a wide variety of applications. Itโs best suited for applications where a high degree of accuracy is desired. However, the Davis Vantage Vue would serve everyday weather watchers better.
What is the difference between the Davis Vantage Pro2 and Pro2 Plus?
Pro2 Plus stations are identical to the Pro2, with the addition of UV and solar radiation sensors.
Does the Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus require batteries?
The Integrated Sensor Suite operates primarily on solar power. A CR123 battery provides backup power as necessary, and in typical installations, it should last 2-3 years. We do not recommend the wireless Vantage Pro2 Plus in locations that receive less than 6 hours of sunlight daily during winter.
How do I get the most accurate readings from my Vantage Pro2 Plus?
We strongly recommend placing your anemometer assembly as high as possible. One of the Vantage Pro2 Plusโs best features is the capability to separate the anemometer from the rest of the sensor suite. With 40 feet of wire, you can get the sensor to the official level of 33 feet.
Do I need fan aspiration?
Fan aspiration keeps air moving around your sensors, making readings more accurate during daylight hours when exposed to direct sunlight. In our experience, this has led to a 2- 3ยฐF difference in temperature between aspirated and non-aspirated models. While not a significant difference, it is large enough to cause readings to be inaccurate. We recommend fan aspiration if youโre concerned with accuracy.
