Adding fan aspiration to the Davis Vantage Pro2 negates the effects of direct sunlight. A solar- and battery-powered, motor-driven fan draws a constant airflow through the sensor chamber. At night, when the effects of radiation are less, the fan runs on the battery at a lower speed. The Davis Vantage Pro2 Integrated Sensor Suite with 24-hr Fan Aspiration is perfect for consistently accurate readings even if the sensor suite is exposed to direct sunlight.

FAQ
Who is the Davis Vantage Pro2 Integrated Sensor Suite with 24-Hr Fan Aspiration best for?
We recommend the Davis Vantage Pro2 with 24-hr Fan Aspiration for various applications. It’s best suited for applications where a high degree of accuracy is desired, or where the sensor suite spends extended periods in direct sunlight. However, the Davis Vantage Vue would better serve everyday weather watchers.
Does the Davis VantagePro2 require batteries?
The Integrated Sensor Suite operates primarily on solar power. A CR123 battery provides backup power as necessary, and in typical installations, it should last 2-3 years. We do not recommend the wireless Vantage Pro2 in locations that receive less than 6 hours of sunlight daily during winter.
How do I get the most accurate readings from my Vantage Pro2?
We strongly recommend placing your anemometer assembly as high as possible. One of the Vantage Pro2’s best features is the capability to separate the anemometer from the rest of the sensor suite. With 40 feet of wire, you can get the sensor to the official level of 33 feet.
I cannot use wireless devices in my home. Is a wired version of the Davis Vantage Pro2 available?
Yes, a cabled version of the Davis Vantage Pro2 is available. Learn more here.
