Summertime means pool time, but it’s also prime time for afternoon thunderstorms. The Talos Pool Lightning Detector with Mounting Base alerts you to approaching lightning or storms. Lightning commonly strikes water, and a nearby lightning strike could kill or seriously injure a swimmer since water conducts electricity.

When lightning is first detected (up to 25 miles), the Talos Pool Lightning Detector with Mounting Base flashes all 8 LEDs for 5 minutes. To save battery life, after 5 minutes of lightning detection, the detector switches to blinking every other LED for the remaining time that lightning is detected.

Green, one beep – 17-25 miles
Blue, two beeps – 8-16 miles
Red, three beeps – 7 miles or less

When it detects electrical noise interference, the detector will go through a sequence of all colors. If this happens, relocate the detector.

My TALOS is flashing and beeping every 10 seconds. What does that mean?

This is the TALOS built-in low battery alert. Change the batteries before further use, as the alert occurs shortly before the device shuts off automatically due to low power.
